Washington, D.C.—Securing America’s Future Energy (SAFE) announced today 33 new Fellows will join its fourth Energy Security Fellows Program. The program provides the next generation of energy, transportation and national security professionals with access to high-level programming and networking opportunities, connecting them with individuals interested in advancing the national conversation on the future of American energy security.

Fellows will participate in six separate roundtable discussions over the course of the program that will focus on energy policy and transportation technology through the lens of economic and national security.

“Today, the transportation and energy sectors are entering an era of transformation in both technology and policy. SAFE is pleased to bring together this impressive group of professionals to both educate and start a conversation on how to best move forward during this time of transition that will strengthen America’s economic and national security by reducing our dependence on the global oil market,” said SAFE President and CEO Robbie Diamond.

SAFE’s Energy Security Fellows are selected each fall in a competitive application process. The Fellows then participate in a Washington, D.C.-based dinner series that include roundtable discussions with leaders in these sectors. Past speakers have included members of SAFE’s Energy Security Leadership Council (ESLC), which is co-chaired by Frederick W. Smith, Chairman, President and CEO of FedEx, and General James T. Conway (Ret.), 34^th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps.

About Securing America’s Future Energy

Securing America’s Future Energy (SAFE) is an action-oriented, nonpartisan organization that aims to reduce America’s dependence on oil. Near-total dependence on petroleum in the transportation sector undermines the nation’s economic and national security and constrains U.S. foreign policy. To combat these threats, SAFE advocates for expanded domestic production of U.S. oil and gas resources, continued improvements in vehicle fuel efficiency, and transportation sector innovations including electric vehicles, natural gas trucks, and autonomous vehicles. In 2006, SAFE joined with General P.X. Kelley (Ret.), 28th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, and Frederick W.
